Once again we, as a church, will be participating in Operation Christmas Child (OCC), a mission of Samaritan’s Purse Canada (SPC).
We understand that things are difficult during this COVID-19 pandemic period, and participation is entirely voluntary & any giving is beyond our St. Hilda’s tithes.
Briefly put, through this mission, it is our desire is to bless children around the world by a packing a shoebox with gifts & opening the door for children to hear about God’s greatest gift –Jesus.
If you do want to participate, there are two options:
- Buying & packing items in a physical shoebox. For this option, we have shoeboxes from previous years & have downloaded packing information. Please contact us & we will get them to you. Here is a link to info on how to pack a shoebox: https://www.samaritanspurse.ca/pack-a-shoebox/ . Note: a minimum $10 donation is requested with each shoebox. Donations of $20 or more will be tax-receipted by SPC . You may donate online or include a donation in your shoebox. Cheques are payable to Samaritan’s Purse Canada. Again, please contact us if you need materials or help. Also, if requested, we will arrange to pick-up any shoeboxes & deliver them to a collection centre for you. National Collection Week is Nov. 15-21, 2021.
- Packing a shoebox online. For this option, you can choose between a) SPC filling a box online for you ($40, Optional $6 to Support the Greatest Journey program) or b) selecting an age group, boy/girl, adding up to 2 optional items ($40, optional items $2-4ea, $6 option to support the Greatest Journey program). Note that for packing a shoebox online, the $10 donation is included): https://packabox.samaritanspurse.ca/
Joan & I will be serving as St. Hilda’s OCC ambassadors; please contact us if you need any information or materials.
Thx & blessings,
