Operation Christmas Child

This year St. Hilda’s will be participating in OPERATION CHRISTMAS CHILD once again. OCC works with churches around the world to distribute gift-filled shoeboxes to children living in war, poverty and disaster. Each box is a powerful expression of hope, joy and love – but that’s only the beginning. These shoeboxes open the door for children to hear about God’s greatest gift – Jesus Christ.

National collection week is November 14-20. If you wish to participate please speak to Bob Towarnicki after the service.

The Celebration of St. Hilda’s Day, November 17th

St. Hilda, Abbess of Whitby, was renowned for presiding over the Great Synod of Whitby in 664 AD. She was a lover of God’s Word who encouraged creativity in worship. She is especially remembered for her encouragement of Caedmon, an illiterate cowherd, farm labourer and shepherd who miraculously became England’s first poet and hymn writer, celebrated throughout the land for his songs in praise to God’s creation and His mighty Word.

As a community bearing her name, we will celebrate St. Hilda’s life and relevance to our times, on Sunday November 20. MARK THE DATE!!!

“So My Word that comes from My Mouth will not return to me empty, but it will accomplish what I please and will prosper in what I send it to do.”      Isaiah 55:11
